Let’s Reduce Your Expectations for Christianity

When we become a Christian, the Bible uses language that says we’re adopted by God the Father . . . into his family. And what do we know about being part of a family? They annoy us, we annoy them, and we love and serve each other. That’s family. That’s fellowship. Welcome to the church. This clip is excerpted from the sermon “Jesus Gave Us Communion,” part 7 of our current sermon series, Jesus Loves His Church. It was preached by Pastor Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Downtown Bellevue and released online on August 5. Watch the full sermon here:

Christianity Starts with a Sermon

Church is what happens when the Bible is preached, the Holy Spirit comes, and people are connected to Jesus. The result is a bunch of people called Christians who are on mission together as the family of God, the church. Paul’s sermon in Acts 2 begins literally with Jesus. It starts and ends with, is all and only and always about Jesus—and he will be proclaimed, by the grace of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, at Mars Hill Church forever. This clip is excerpted from the sermon “Jesus Gives Life,” part 1 of our new summer sermon series, Jesus Loves His Church. It was preached by Pastor Mark Driscoll out of Acts 1:1–11 and 2:22–41 at Mars Hill Downtown Bellevue and released online on June 24. Spiritual Warfare

Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12 speaks of “spiritual wickedness in high places.” Please notice carefully that the Bible says our battle is against wickedness in high places. That means our battle is against the New World Order also, that means don´t be ignorant people, protest against this abomanation before God Almighty in YAHUSHUA´S(JESUS´) HOLY NAME,AMEN! The main reason why we are going into perdition isn’t because of the witches, abortionists, nor homosexuals; but rather, because of it’s apostate ministers who refuse to fight against spiritual wickedness in high places. Every God-fearing, Christ-honoring, soul-winning, people-loving, sin-hating, Hell fire and damnation preacher ought to be leading his people in battle against the Satan´s New World Order. Everything rises and falls on leadership. A congregation will not rise above the spirituality of its pastor; and a nation will not rise above the spirituality of its churches. The Bible even tells us how to battle, listing our weapons of war in Ephesians 6:10-18 . . . Ephesians 6:10-18, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers

How to Cast Out Demons from Christians (Part One)

Demonic doctrines have infiltrated Christianity. In the American church, Satan moves in darkness and most Christians don’t believe they can have demons in them (not possessed). In other cultures around the world, demons are worshiped openly and possession is a way of life. I will provide Biblical proof that Christian demonization is a reality. This series will be a comprehensive step by step instruction on how to cast out demons. I give honor to Don Dickerman and his amazing ministry team who have delivered more than 25000 Christians from demons. This teaching is not theory but has been put into practice by me and others. People are physically, emotionally and spiritually healed instantly. They experience fruit of freedom long after the deliverance. If you are a child of the King but are addicted, depressed or diseased, be encouraged, your freedom is near! God bless you!

Interfaith issues - where is christ in christianity - Laurence Brown Part 2

A product of Christian-American ancestry dating back to the year 1677, up until his conversion to Islam in April of 1994, Dr. Brown easily could have passed as an example of a man who lived the stereotypical American dream. A graduate from two Ivy League universities with subspecialty training in ophthalmology, Dr. Brown served as a respected ophthalmologist in the US Air Force for a period of eight years. Midway through his Air Force career, Dr. Brown’s ‘ideal American family’ included a wife, two children, and the requisite two cars and a dog. His country home was crowded with the full array of comforts and toys which clutter the lives of those preoccupied with materialism. Yet Dr. Brown ended up sacrificing virtually everything he had worked for when he faced a religious conviction that overturned his lifelong priorities. Following a personal miracle through which the life of his daughter was saved, Dr. Brown redirected his focus to religious study in an attempt to make good on a promise made to God. In the process, Dr. Brown followed the chain of revelation through the Abrahamic religions from Judaism to Christianity and, in the end, to Islam. It is the result of that study that he relates in his series of thought-provoking books. In the same manner that Dr. Brown’s choice of religion confronted his slice of the American dream, so too do his religious conclusions challenge the Western religious establishment. Laurence Brown received his BA from Cornell University, his

Early Christianity - Diversity, Division, Dogma (Professor Harland) This course explores diversity in early Christian thought and practice by investigating various groups and writings traditionally viewed as “heretical”, marginal, or non-canonical. We will study these groups by looking at opponents addressed in canonical literature, by considering the so-called heresiologists (eg Irenaeus), and by studying early Christian writings that did not come to be included in the canon (namely the New Testament Apocrypha and Nag Hammadi writings). In identifying the various strands of Christianity, we will ask questions such as: What forms of Christianity do we encounter in the literature? How are these forms or groups related to one another? What are the key issues of debate among them? How might we plot these out on a “map” of early Christianity? In the process we will address theoretical and historiographical issues in the study of early Christianity, including problems with the concepts of “orthodoxy” and “heresy,” as well as issues relating to the category of “gnosticism.” In the first term we will focus attention on forms of Christianity in one particular region, Asia Minor, and in the second term we will concentrate on forms of Christianity reflected in the early Christian Apocrypha and gnostic writings.
